Driverless Cars in use at Airport – The Future is Now

The Future is now.
Another clear cut example that the future people dream of is here today.
London’s Heathrow airport’s self-driving cars ferry passengers between car parks to terminals. Replacing the diesel buses terminal five used to use, the fancy Japanese looking pod-cars travel at 25mph and can carry up to four passengers plus their luggage. While the passengers don’t drive the cars themselves, the pod-cars must be started by pressing a button, with the journeys customizable remotely for going in different directions along the 2.4 mile-long track. Having been tested since April and put into full operation this summer not a single accident has been recorded. I wonder how this concept will be incorporated into other facets of our everyday life. I’d love to see a system of these on a route that consists of the mall, grocery store, movie theater, downtown area.
